(Ugh, I couldn’t find a way to make the title less click-baity. Sorry. It’s just that I can’t tell 100% without an official announcement.)
Anyway, Puyo’s (@puyotopia) last Tweet states (thanks to Carol who noticed this):
もうじき長門終わるんで谷川先生からわざわざうち宛にメッセージもらった、ありがたうれしい。
As Nagato will be ending soon, Mr. Tanigawa took the trouble to send me a message. I am both happy and thankful. [Translated]
This probably means that Volume 10 will be the final volume. I guess it was kind of getting obvious though, with some main characters leaving and all. So… I’ll monologue for a bit now. If you don’t want to read it, skip to the last sentence.
First off, this has been a really special experience. Thank you all for reading with me. I enjoyed working on this project, and I really feel blessed that I got to do so. It’s very rare for me to find a series that I’m that interested in. Strangely, never once did it feel like I didn’t want to work on this project or that I got sick of it. To be honest, I don’t know why I got so interested in the first place. Perhaps it was because I wanted a happy ending for Nagato. Perhaps I’m just a nerd who likes Haruhi related stuff too much, and I’m a sucker for intertextuality. But regardless, this has been really fun, and I’ve learned a lot. So once again, thank you so much all for the support. It really helps when people are interested in your work. I don’t want to sound like I’m saying my work is the holy grail or anything, so at the risk of letting it all go to my head, I’ll stop now.
That said, the series isn’t officially over yet. Stay tuned for actual official announcements. And here’s hoping for a satisfying ending. (Not that I expect one, but I really like epilogues, and I really want to see one for this series. Not enough stories do that.) Oh, and, of course, I still plan on translating Volume 10 whenever it actually does come out.

Whn I saw the Tweet on my e-mail’s inbox, I got really happy because I understood the “Nagato” kanjis, so it was a Yuki-chan related post, that could contain some info. I got a little confused when I put on the translator for the romanization (since I can understand it a little). I read somthing about “end” and “Nagato”, so I REALLY wanted to confirm that and send to you.
Honestly, I’m not surprised either, by the same reasons you had. It really feels like it’s ending, final year, Asakura leaving, some graduation happened, the main characters got together… I really loved this manga, I liked this couple for a few years now xD And I thank you very much for you hard work in translating this spin-off! I know it’s hard, I’ve tried some translating myself too, though it was some minor doujin/comics.
Well, I really appreciate it. I hadn’t been monitoring Puyo’s Twitter for the past couple of days, so I was excited to hear something. I hope that we get an official date on the publication soon. I’m excited, even if it’s ending.
Yeah, romantic comedy is something I usually stay away from, but for whatever reason, I really like this one. I think it’s because I didn’t want them to mess with the canon Haruhi OTP, but I really like Nagato as a character, and the same manga artist was working on it. Also, it’s not just another stupid, vomit-inducing,
Nisekoiharem story. I’ve heard some say that it seems like a fanfiction, but I don’t really agree. All the fanfiction I’ve read is poorly thought out with forced plot/dialogue and bad pacing, whereas this series took time to develop the main characters. Sure it was kind of frustrating at times, but in retrospect, I don’t think any of the arcs can really be considered “filler” because everything served to develop the characters and the relationship. Plus they actually get together and do stuff together after that, which I think is what really sets it apart from other similar genres of stories. Little things.Also, if you want my advice, the best way to become better at translating is to actually spend the time to learn the language. Taking even two years of a formal Japanese course made me several times faster and more accurate. (I think the same goes for any language.) Also, once you feel like you’re good enough, find something you’re interested in, and just try to read it, even if there’s an English version. I got a Japanese translation of To Kill a Mockingbird, which is one of my favorite novels, so I’m reading through that.
Thank you very much for your advice! I’ve been planning in learning japanese for quite sometime, and I just need a chance to enroll in a official course. I learned what I know in typical subbed anime and seeing some unstranslated, texted sentences, but that’s it. I hope I get a real chance to learn the japanese language, as I like it very much.

Puyo’s Twitter account got me really interested. There is a link to the Comic Walker website and there is Chapter 80 of Yuki-chan there (if you don’t want any spoilers, do not go in there, just trust me). The last chapter of Volume 9 is 70 and I’ve checked that the volume with the greatest number of chapters is Volume 3 which consists of 12 chapters, so probably there will be just a couple more? Then we’ll be getting ready for the volume release.

(And, I just flipped through the chapter (didn’t really read the dialogue). I think I’ll be very pleased with the next volume. I have a feeling it’ll be worth the long wait! ;))
Unfortunately, I don’t think I can find any other chapters prior to that one, so it will just be a lot less error prone if I wait for the volume release. I don’t think I’ll buy each individual magazine issue for the sake of one chapter per issue, as it can get very expensive quickly. And it’ll look cleaner if I wait for the book. Sorry for the delay, but I’m sticking to that decision.
Oh, sweeeeeeet~ I really miss Yuki-chan. I’ve been checking his twitter and Yukifan two or three times a week (sometimes even everyday). Now, there’s something I never knew… Is Yuki-chan a weekly manga or a monthly manga? Its release is so irregular I just can’t trust the pace…
I’m fairly certain it’s monthly at most. It gets published in Young Ace, which is a monthly publication.

I hope that publisher will let Puyo finish the manga properly. There is still some plotlines to close.
And again, thank you for translating this manga Cal. Just like you, I usually avoid that genre. But this manga, for some reason, became really special to me.

According to my “research” earlier, there were supposed to be just a couple chapters more. And now, on the last page of Chapter 81, it is said that the next chapter is the last one.
The last chapter will be August 29th, so probably we should expect Volume 10 to be published in September/October.
Correct. Though, I don’t know the turnaround time for these kinds of publications. In any case, it looks like before the end of the year, it will be over.

There is this retweeted photo from August 9th on Puyo’s account and I think the info in the corner says that Volume 10 will be released in February 2017. Much later than I hoped/expected.
Yup, you’re right. Oh, well. I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
